    Looking for courage

If you’re looking for courage and bravery to be your true self, then you’ve come to the right place. Today we’d like to introduce you to Brené Brown, one of the kindest yet toughest thought leaders of this generation. She is a social worker, researcher, professor, storyteller, wife, mother and Texan. Here’s an excerpt from her informal website bio as a way of introduction.

“I believe that you have to walk through vulnerability to get to courage, therefore . . . embrace the suck. I try to be grateful every day and my motto right now is ‘Courage over comfort.’” -Brené Brown

Dr. Brown has spent more than two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. Her connective work has been influential to countless lives. Karen Becker, MA LPCC-S, Clinical Supervisor at Encompass, recommends pretty much anything by Dr. Brown, as “her work is inspiring and full of support and realism.” You can connect with Dr. Brown in a variety of places for empowerment and encouragement including your favorite social media channel.

TED Talks Dr. Brown has given two TED talks. The Power of Vulnerability, her first talk from 2010, is one of the most viewed TED talks in the world with over 47 million views. You can find more interviews here.

Podcast Dr. Brown launched her podcast, Unlocking Us, in 2020. Together with special guests, she tackles tough topics such as connection, loneliness, anxiety, belonging, faith and more. It’s a good tool for facing and/or being distracted from the global pandemic.

One way we can build up our mental health and be our best self is by filling our minds with truth and then practicing those truths slowly, day after day. We hope these resources will inspire you to grow.
